Young lover's Daffodils

Remember the Daffodils, my love
Swaying lightly to our banter,
Whispering to the wind,
‘They must be lovers,
See their knees touching?
Her fingers dance to tell a story,
His head tilted to show he’s listening,
Arm in arm they walk,
Words aren’t important
They know not what they talk,
And that look is pure longing,
When they stare at us,
Ah, the wedding white Daffodils,
How beautiful you are!

Not you...

The wind bites today,
Steals my peace,
I beg her to stop,
She strips me over and over again,
How much can I hide,
Save my love from her prying eyes,
Defeated is my spirit,
His door is shut,
Can my empty pockets never be filled?
Out on the road she laughs at me,
Flaws become you,
Go away there isn't much you can do,
Not you, she says, not you...

Pain isn't Real

Don’t sob in the dark,
The salted water runs its course,
Pure, it flows,
Cleansing the psyche,
So much has gathered and stayed put,
One knows not what it feels to be,
Young and innocent anymore,
Running in circles,
One figures the pain isn’t real,
Neither are memories,
Just the stench from the garbage bin in the backyard,
That needs to be taken out.

Sanctity of Marriage

Beyond the walls of conditioning,
Of lust and the sanctity of marriage,
Begins a man’s quest for more,
At this depth he could swim,
When all along he longed to drown,
The pairing of opposites consoled him,
Consumed his restlessness,
Fooled him for a while,
Incomplete, he had set out,
Fragmented, he returned,
Oneness, he found was elusive as the Golden bird,
Perched on the swing in a cage, within reach,
Yet that bird belonged to nobody...
